This surgery removes the left portion of the colon, including the descending colon and part of the transverse colon.

Common reasons:

  • Colon cancer on the left side

  • Complications of Diverticulitis

  • Bowel obstruction or significant bleeding

The two remaining ends of the colon are reconnected to maintain digestive function.
