Right Hemicolectomy

This procedure involves removal of the right side of the colon, including the cecum, ascending colon, and part of the transverse colon.

Indications:

  • Colon cancer affecting the right colon

  • Large benign tumors

  • Obstruction or severe bleeding

  • Certain inflammatory conditions

After removal, the small intestine is connected to the remaining portion of the colon to restore bowel continuity.
